Within walking distance of the holiday cottages, Washford has a family-run post office and village shop selling local produce and a couple of pubs serving food. The west Somerset Steam Heritage Railway with museum is also a short walk away where you can catch a train for a relaxing ride into Minehead, Dunster or Watchet. Nearby Torre Cider Farm sells local Somerset Scrumpy and a selection of jams and honey and also serves clotted cream teas.

Also on our doorstep, the English Heritage listed Cleeve Abbey is a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey viewed as one of the best-preserved medieval monastic sites in Britain, whilst for the young ones, Tropiquaria never fails to enchant with its creepy crawlies, puppet shows and outdoor pirate ship and truly is a fun day out, whatever the weather.

Williton, which is a short drive away, has a few larger stores and a butcher supplying locally farmed meat and dairy products. Minehead has the major supermarkets and is only 8 miles away.

Venture out and explore historic Dunster with its 11th Century National Trust owned medieval castle, mill and Deer Park and over two hundred listed buildings or head for the coast and one of the many seaside villages along the west Somerset shoreline. For the more active, the Exmoor National Park offers a wide range of activities including dramatic walks, horse riding, mountain-biking, hang gliding and jeep safaris. Fishing and watersports are available at Wimbleball Lake Country Park and Watchet and Minehead offer . sea fishing.
