The Surrounding Area

The nearby Exmoor National Park is an area of wild natural beauty inhabited by native ponies and red deer. The rolling hills of the Quantocks (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) provide dramatic scenery for walking and the local seaside towns of Watchet and Minehead and the medieval village of Dunster make these Visit England 4-Star Gold rated self-catering holiday cottages a wonderful haven from which to discover the beauty of Somerset.

Within walking distance of the holiday cottages, Washford has a family-run post office with village shop selling local produce and a couple of pubs serving food. The West Somerset Steam Heritage Railway with museum is also a short walk away where you can catch a train for a relaxing ride into Minehead, Dunster or Watchet. Nearby Torre Cider Farm sells local Somerset Scrumpy and a selection of jams and honey and also serves clotted cream teas.

Also on our doorstep, the English Heritage listed Cleeve Abbey is a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey viewed as one of the best-preserved medieval monastic sites in Britain, whilst for the young ones, Tropiquaria never fails to enchant with its creepy crawlies, puppet shows and outdoor pirate ship and truly is a fun day out, whatever the weather.
